Court Hearing on Northern Iron Aug. 2024

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (“MPCA”) continues to seek enforcement of its April 2024 administrative order, which required the Northern Iron foundry to reduce its emissions. In July, a judge issued a temporary order that allowed Northern Iron to resume full operations but required the foundry to install pollution control equipment.

The MPCA continues to seek enforcement of its order. On Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., the court will hear further arguments from the MPCA.  Fact sheet – Hearing motion to dismiss.  The hearing will be open to the public via Zoom.  The court asks that observers follow certain protocol:

• Please keep your video and microphone off during the entire hearing.
• Please label yourself “First name Lastname, Observer.”
