MnDOT Arcade/East 7th Project
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) finalized their design guidelines for street and pedestrian improvements in January 2024. Arcade Street is identified by the City of St. Paul Climate Action Plan as a key urban heat island in need of mitigation. In the coming 8-12 months, PPCC will be working with MnDOT and a group of community partner organizations to fine tune plans for landscaping locations, materials, and maintenance so that these plans can be integrated into the street/sidewalk design. Together these will constitute the bid package for contractors. PPCC has been and will continue to do the heavy lift of coordinating between government agencies, watersheds, and community non-profits to ensure implementation of “green lungs” in this main street corridor in Payne-Phalen.
