Public Hearings on Short-Term Rentals and Food Packaging


2 public hearings are scheduled for Wednesday, October 4 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 300 of City Hall/Court House, 15 Kellogg Boulevard West, Saint Paul, MN.

Proposed Short Term Rental Zoning Code Amendments and Licensing

A short term rental is a house, apartment, bed and breakfast residence, bedroom, or even couch rented for less than 30 days.  They are not permitted under the current Saint Paul zoning code.

A public hearing for the proposed amendments and licensing regulations will be held on Wed. October 4 at 5:30 p.m. All public comments will be heard by the City Council.

Ordinance amendments related to “To Go” Food Packaging

Saint Paul Code Chapter 236 – Environmental Preservation: Plastic Packaging is being amended. The City is finalizing the “exemptions” list on the proposed draft language, which is in the process of being considered by the City Council. The purpose of this change is to engage businesses and residents to evaluate sustainable “To Go” food packaging efforts and regulations for the City of Saint Paul. It is limited to packaging of food intended for immediate consumption and does not include plastic bags. If approved, this ordinance is expected to take effect on October 1, 2018.     

A public hearing for the proposed amendment will be held on Wed. October 4 at 5:30 p.m.
