Arcade Garden Collective
Organized by the Payne-Phalen Community Council, the Arcade Garden Collective is a volunteer group that will maintain 40+ gardens and at least two feature areas MnDOT plans for Arcade Street.
Volunteer
Most gardens measure about 3 ft. x 20 ft. Volunteers will receive training and support from Master Gardeners and other experts; tools, supplies, and resources; and more. Gardening begins Spring 2026 after a group of community members plant annuals. MnDOT will plant perennial pollinators in 2027.
We are currently looking for volunteers. As a volunteer, a garden will be designated as “yours” to tend. Your garden will need to be watered, weeded, deadheaded, and removed of debris that may accumulate. If we don’t have enough volunteers, MnDOT will fill garden spaces with concrete. To volunteer for a garden, please email gardens@paynephalen.org.
The Arcade Garden Collective is a Payne-Phalen Community Council project with support from the Capitol Region Watershed District, Urban Roots, and St. Paul Parks Conservancy.
